The Watches
In his quest for fresh perspective and new horizons in jewelry making, designer Georg Bunz venture into unexpected territory. Swiss subsidiary Bunz Montres SA was created to specially produce the watch line. The company succeeded in mounting a diamond in a watch glass using an invisible setting. Thus, the unique Bunz watch was created, combining timeless design with modern technology.
In 1994, the International Watch Museum in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, and the Deutsche Museum in Munich included the Moontime I in their collections. The Moontime I represents lunar time more accurately than any other watch made up to that time.
The Moon is symbolized by a three dimensional sphere, which takes exactly 29.5312 days to travel around the dial. The mechanical movement (patented) makes the moon rotate on its axis so that it can show the exact astronomical lunar time.
We all live in the same present day and follow the same course of time. Yet every moment is experienced differently by every individual and influenced by their own personalities. Our perception of time therefore reflects the tension between the eternal movement of the stars and each personal moment.
